Today, we’re rolling out new features on Facebook powered by Meta AI that make it easier and more fun to express yourself in your profile picture, photos, Feed posts, and Stories.
Bring Your Profile Picture to Life
You can now animate your profile picture, turning a still photo into a playful animation in seconds. Choose from preset animations — like natural, party hat, confetti, wave, and heart — to bring your profile picture to life depending on how you’re feeling. We’ll add more animation options throughout the year so you can celebrate and express yourself during seasonal moments and special events.
For the best results, we recommend using a photo that features a single person facing the camera with their face clearly visible, and not holding other objects. You can select photos to animate directly from your camera roll or choose photos you’ve already uploaded to Facebook. Once a photo is animated, you can share it to your Feed and view it on your profile.
Restyle Your Stories and Memories
Restyle lets you transform the aesthetic of an image in Facebook Stories and Memories using preset style options or your own text-based AI prompt. We’ll also recommend Memories with Restyle options in your Stories.
After uploading a photo to Stories or viewing your Memories to share on Stories, you can tap Restyle and either use Meta AI to change things up how you want, or pick from Styles (like anime or illustrated), Moods (like glowy), Lighting (like ethereal), Colors (like cool or pink), and Backdrops (like beach or cityscape).
Share Scroll-Stopping Text Posts to Your Feed
Text posts are a great way to share what’s on your mind, and now you can match that energy visually, too. We’re gradually rolling out the ability to add an animated backdrop to your Feed text posts, making them more fun and expressive.
When you’re creating a new text post in Feed, tap the rainbow A icon to select from multiple still and animated backgrounds like falling leaves or ocean waves. We’ll also introduce seasonal backgrounds in the future so your posts can feel timely, festive, and a little more fun.
These new features make it easy to express yourself in fun and unique ways, so you can create something share-worthy to connect with your friends on Facebook.
