Meta and EssilorLuxottica announced today that Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta will be available in Japan starting May 21, 2026. Having already sold millions of units of their AI glasses, the two companies are further expanding their global presence and evolving their partnership to shape the future of vision care and wearable technology.
Since its launch, the Ray-Ban Meta has achieved the world’s No. 1 sales record in the field of AI glasses, redefining eyewear. The Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) are fitted with the latest features such as 8 hours of battery life, an ultra-wide 12MP camera that now captures high-quality 3K ultra-HD photos and videos and immersive audio upgrades so you can hear with more clarity.
Smarter Integration With Meta AI
With Meta AI integrated, you can simply say, “Hey Meta” and ask questions about the world around you—learn about a historic site in Tokyo or even get cooking tips based on ingredients in your kitchen. Whether you’re streaming music or podcasts, taking calls, or taking videos or photos, Ray-Ban Meta glasses are the perfect companion that lets you do it all – while keeping your hands free.
A Style for Every Personality
The Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) line includes both sunglasses and optical models. The sunglasses line features three styles: Wayfarer, Skyler, and Headliner. A wide range of lens colors are available, including sunglass lenses, clear lenses, polarized lenses, and Transitions® Gen S lenses, allowing for seamless use day and night. The line also includes prescription-lens compatible optical models: Ray-Ban Meta Blayzer Optics and Ray-Ban Meta Scriber Optics . These newly introduced Optics frames are lightweight and slim for all-day comfort, and feature enhanced customization options such as replaceable nose pads and adjustable temple tips. Furthermore, a hinge structure with 10 degrees of increased range of motion and a dedicated action button for one-touch Meta AI activation make accessing features and capturing content even easier.
Oakley Meta will offer two models , HSTN (pronounced HOW-stuhn) and Vanguard , as next-generation AI glasses that provide Athletic Intelligence in the performance domain.
The Oakley Meta HSTN combines a bold design with advanced technology, featuring a 12-megapixel camera and open-ear speakers integrated into the frame. With IPX4 water resistance, it’s suitable for a variety of situations. Some models feature PRIZM™ lenses for enhanced contrast.
The Oakley Meta Vanguard is designed with movement and endurance in mind, supporting performance improvement through the use of real-time data. It features a 12-megapixel camera with a 122-degree field of view and high-volume open-ear speakers with wind noise reduction. Designed to help you stay focused during training such as running and cycling, its IP67 dust and water resistance makes it suitable for use in harsh environments. All models offer a wide range of customization options with various color variations and lens combinations.

Sales will begin on May 21, 2026, at Ray-Ban and Oakley stores and official online stores, as well as authorized retailers nationwide and Meta.com . From June 4, sales will begin at Meta’s authorized retailers (online first).
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) is scheduled to be available from ¥73,700, Ray-Ban Meta Optics (Gen 2) from ¥82,500 (prescription lenses sold separately), Oakley Meta HSTN from ¥77,220, and Oakley Meta Vanguard from ¥96,580. (All prices include tax)
