Attach Text to Your Threads Posts and Share Longer Perspectives

Takeaways

  • We’re rolling out a new feature that lets you attach up to 10,000 characters of text to a post.
  • In posts with text attachments, you can link out to your content, helping your audience discover your fresh and interesting takes off-platform.
  • This helps people more easily express themselves and promote and drive people to their work wherever it lives.

There are many ways to share your perspective on Threads, but we’ve noticed people expressing themselves with screenshots of longer content from books, articles, newsletters, podcast transcripts, and more when 500 characters isn’t enough.

To address this, we’re rolling out a way to attach up to 10,000 characters of text to a post. Any attached text can be read directly in Threads to help you convey more complex perspectives, draw your audience in, and promote your work. If you’re sharing or previewing content from other platforms on Threads, you can include a link to the full content in the body of your main post.

This gives people more room to express themselves and start conversations — and helps their community discover their work wherever it lives. For example, an author might attach text to their post to tease a portion of a forthcoming novel, while a journalist might promote their latest think piece.

Text attachments are part of our ongoing efforts to improve the creator experience on Threads and help communities connect around shared interests, and we’ll continue gathering feedback on how to improve them.
