Signature of an agreement between Meta and ADAGP

Meta and ADAGP (Society of Authors in the Graphic and Plastic Arts) have reached an agreement to support and promote visual arts and artists online.

The alliance between Meta and ADAGP is a win for both creators who will be remunerated for the use of their works, and users who can continue to freely view and share them on Meta’s platforms such as Facebook and Instagram in France.

For Marie-Anne Ferry-Fall, CEO of ADAGP: “We are delighted to be able, thanks to this agreement, to pay back fair remuneration to all the artists who have entrusted us with the management of their exclusive rights. The license granted to Meta will enable users of these platforms to share the works they enjoy, while respecting the rights of their creators. This agreement demonstrates that mass distribution of works and respect for rights are not incompatible, and that online services can develop without sacrificing the protection of creation.”

For Laurent Solly, Vice-President of Southern Europe at Meta: “We are proud to work alongside ADAGP and thus further strengthen our support for authors and rights holders. For several years, Meta has developed dedicated tools such as Rights Manager which provide rights holders with information and data on their content and allow them to simply control when, how and where their works are shared on the platforms.
