Moving to a Local Selling Model in India

Facebook will be implementing a local selling structure in India. This means going forward we will bill and report all ads revenue in India through our local India entity and will no longer bill and report this revenue through our international headquarters in Dublin.

We are localizing our advertising revenue in India to provide more transparency, and to help businesses comply with new requirements, so they can continue to focus on growing their businesses and reaching new customers on Facebook. In particular, small businesses form the back bone of the Indian economy and moving to a local selling structure will help reduce the administrative burdens for small businesses in India that transact online.

All advertising transactions with the local India entity will now, by law, be subject to Indian GST and all billings will be done in INR. This change will be applicable to all businesses who advertise on our platform. This is a significant endeavor and we plan to implement this change through 2018, with the goal of completing early in 2019.
