Last April, Facebook experimented by open-sourcing a set of server and data center designs as part of the Open Compute Project. Today more than 500 people are gathered in San Antonio, Texas for the third OCP Summit.
The Open Compute Project continues to gather momentum. Since launch a year ago, dozens of companies have joined as official members; new projects and designs have been proposed to the project’s Incubation Committee; and consumers and suppliers are thinking about the server and data center industry in new ways.
